Little Tower
Since the creation, Aes Sedai have been looked upon with awe. This is due to the fact that they can channel the One Power, the ultimate force in Randland. In the age of legends they were not as influential as in this age but they were still very influential. The White Tower was established 98 A.B. The actually building of the tower wasn't completed until 202 A.B.
Throughout this Age, it has been believed that the Aes Sedai are the real power in the world. Many people think that the kings and queens of the land are nothing but puppets of the Tower, although the rulers will never admit it. It is rumoured the Aes Sedai, in fact, invented the Great Game of Houses.
The process of becoming an Aes Sedai is long and hard. When a girl is discovered to have the ability to channel, they are taken to the White Tower for training. They are given training in channelling, studies, and chores. They begin their training as a "novice". They are clothed in white, have small living quarters, and must learn much of the history of the White Tower. After about 7 year of training, they are raised to the "Accepted" level. To be raised to an Accepted, they must pass a test. This test involves facing your fears (past, present and future). When they become Accepted, they must wear a white robe with the seven colours of the Ajahs along the hem. They also receive a ring of a snake biting its own tail. They get to choose their own areas of study to a certain extent. Usually after many more years, the Accepted will be ready to be raised to an Aes Sedai. To become an Aes Sedai, the candidate must show that they can channel and remain calm under extreme conditions. Also, they must swear the Three Oaths on the Oath Rod. Once they pass this test, they will pick they Ajah. They are then allowed to wear the shawl of their Ajah. The most powerful woman in the White Tower, is the Amyrlin Seat. She does not belong to any Ajah and is thought to be the most powerful person in the world.

*Elaida is the Amyrlin Seat in the White Tower after she disposed of
Siuan Sanche.
**Egwene is the Amyrlin Seat in Exile. She is in charge of the Aes
Sedai that were loyal to Siuan.
Each of the seven Ajahs has representatives in the
Hall of the Tower and it's own internal ruling council. The head
of an Ajah isn't necessarily a Sitter for that Ajah. If not, the
Sitters are accountable for their actions in the Hall. The identities
of the leaders are known only to the members of that Ajah.
The seven Ajahs are the Red, Blue, Green, Yellow,
Brown, Gray, and the White.
The goal of the Red Ajah is to hunt down male channelers
and gentle them. The Red Sisters do not bond any Warders, probably
due to the nature of their task. The Red Ajah is the largest one.
It is led by a single women who wield a great deal of power with her Ajah
and throughout the Tower.
The Blue Ajah's purpose is to fight for worthy causes
and to uphold justice. They are also very good administrators.
Since the time of Artur Hawkwing, more Amyrlins have been raised from the
Blue Ajah than any other. The Blue Ajah is the second smallest Ajah
within the Tower.
The Green Ajah is called the Battle Ajah.
They focus is on waiting for Tarmon Gai'don and preparing the world for
when it comes. The Green Ajah are probably the most furious fighters
of Shadowspawn. Green sisters are known to have more than one warder
and sometimes will marry their warder.
The Yellow Ajah is dedicated to Healing as well
as finding new cures for diseases. They are the third smallest Ajah
in the Tower. Recently a Yellow sister (Nyneave) found a cure for
healing stilling and gentling.
The Brown Ajah are the seekers of knowledge.
They are the Ajah that formed the Tower's library and they help keep it
in good condition. They are also the Ajah that has discovered many
new Talents. They are the forth smallest Ajah.
The Gray Ajah is made up of mediators. Many
nations use sisters of the Gray Ajah to insure that their treaties will
hold. Other nations are wary of using sisters of the Tower to insure
treaties hold because they fear the Tower may use them.
The sisters of the White Ajah are philosophers.
They avoid both the world and its knowledge. They are the smallest
of the Ajahs.
Talents are special abilities that some Aes Sedai have. They are inborn and cannot be learned (Except through ter'angreal). These Talents include Healing, Dreamwalking, Travelling, Delving, Cloud Dancing, Earth Singing, controlling of weather, Foretelling, Spinning Earthfire, and Milking Tears. There are also many other, some not even given names since they are minor and sometimes thought useless. Healing is the ability to heal diseases and is the most common. Controlling the weather and Cloud Dancing are to do with the weather. Travelling and Dream Walking were thought to be dead until lately. Delving is the ability to find ores in the ground and sometimes get them out. Foretelling, though uncommon, is the ability to predict the future. Spinning Earthfire and Milking Tears are only known by their name and no one has had these abilities since the Age of Legends.
Warders, also know as Gaidin, are the protectors
of Aes Sedai. Most Aes Sedai have at least one Warder except for
the Red Ajah who refuse to have them. Green sisters have been known
to bond to more than one Warder.
The bonding gives the Warders quick healing, the
ability to go without food, water or rest for long periods of time and
the ability to sence the taint of the Dark One at a distance. They
can also sence if their Aes Sedai has been hurt or killed. The Aes
Sedai can feel how far away their Warder is, also they can feel if their
Warder has been hurt or killed and how it happened. If an Aes Sedai
dies, the Warder loses his thirst for life. Many people believe Warders'
fighting ability comes from the bond, but their Aes Sedai deny this.
Every Ajah, except the White, has eys and ears. Eyes and ears are people who spread out through the land to gather information about that area. They are almost never Aes Sedai. Each Ajah has one sister resonsible for their eyes and ears. The Amyrlin has her own eyes and ears who are managed by the Keeper of Chronicles. It is believed that many Aes Sedai have their own personal eyes and ears.
The largest library in the world is located in the White Tower. If not for the White Tower itself, the library alone would make Tar Valon a great city. People believe that there are many secret sections in the library. It not only hold books but also holds many Ter'Angreal.
Until recently the White Tower has always been united. In 999 NE, after Elaida kicked Suian off the Amyrlin Seat and took it for herself, the Tower was split between those loyal to Elaida and those loyal to Suian. Most of the sisters who didn't have a favourite stayed in the White Tower. Those who followed Suian formed the Little Tower in Salidar. Under the leadership of Egwene, they are currently searching for recruits.
